About
MPP-m Studio is a cloud-based platform for manufacturing project planning and management. It supports structured project modeling, scenario generation, and the evaluation of MPP scheduling algorithms through simulation and comparative analysis.
The platform focuses on providing practical tools for planning, managing, and analyzing manufacturing projects, with an emphasis on transparency, reproducibility, and informed decision support.
Design principles
-
Clarity over complexityThe application is organized into focused modules, each addressing a single aspect of project planning, such as activity definition, resource allocation, or parameter configuration.
-
Structured planningProject planning follows a clear and consistent workflow, guiding users from project definition through scheduling, solution generation, and analysis.
-
Reproducible scenariosPlanning scenarios are fully defined by explicit parameters and orders, enabling consistent regeneration, comparison, and validation of scheduling solutions.
Workflow
MPP-m Studio follows a structured and sequential workflow that reflects the natural lifecycle of manufacturing project planning and scheduling. Each step is handled by a dedicated module to ensure clarity and control.
-
Define activitiesProject activities are generated or imported, forming the structural foundation of the planning model.
-
Assign resourcesResource availability and calendars are defined and linked to existing project activities.
-
Configure parametersScheduling parameters are configured to control algorithm behavior and define planning assumptions.
-
Submit scheduling ordersExplicit orders are sent to the MPP Scheduler for cloud-based computation, ensuring a clear boundary between model definition and execution.
-
Analyze solutionsGenerated scheduling solutions are accessed, visualized, and compared to support evaluation and decision-making.
-
Manage lifecycleOrders and solutions can be removed when no longer needed, maintaining a clean and reproducible project state.
Methodology
MPP-m Studio is built around a model-driven and scenario-based planning methodology. Projects are defined explicitly through activities, resources, and parameters before any scheduling computation is executed.
Scheduling is treated as a reproducible computational process. Each solution is the result of a fully specified scenario, consisting of a fixed project structure, resource configuration, and parameter set. This approach enables systematic comparison of alternative scenarios and algorithm configurations.
By separating project modeling, scheduler execution, and solution analysis, the platform promotes transparency, repeatability, and informed decision support in complex manufacturing environments.
