Help & Documentation
This page provides an overview of how to use MPP-m Studio, explains the main concepts of the platform, and guides you toward module-specific help.
Getting started
MPP-m Studio supports a structured workflow for manufacturing project planning and scheduling. Each step of the workflow is handled by a dedicated module, allowing clear separation of concerns and reproducible experimentation.
Conceptual workflow
Client Sources define which databases are available. When opening a planning module, you explicitly select a client source and then choose or create a project within that workspace. All planning data is stored in the selected database.

Workspaces & client selection
MPP-m Studio supports working with multiple workspaces, each backed by a separate database. Workspaces are made available through Client Sources, which store connection configurations. Learn more
Client Sources (workspace configuration)
Client Sources define which workspaces are available to you. Each client source stores the connection details required to access a database. Managing client sources does not modify any project data.
- Add, edit, test, or remove database connection configurations
- The own_client source is permanent and always available
- Removing a client source only removes access, not the database itself
Client and project selection
Planning modules such as MPP-Activities operate within a selected workspace. When starting a module:
- If no client source is currently selected, you are guided through a selection wizard.
- You first select a client source (workspace).
- You then select an existing project in that workspace or create a new one.
All activities, orders, and solutions created in a module are stored in the selected workspace and project. Switching client sources allows you to work with different datasets independently.
Key concepts
- Scenario — A complete planning configuration consisting of activities, resources, and parameters.
- Order — An explicit request to execute the scheduling algorithm for a given scenario.
- Solution — The result produced by the scheduler for a specific order and scenario.
Good practices
- Define activities and resources before configuring parameters.
- Use explicit orders to ensure reproducible results.
- Compare multiple solutions to evaluate alternative scenarios.
